About Mi Casa
What makes Mi Casa Care Homes special?

Our size, our people, and our philosophy. We're a licensed Home Plus facility, which means we operate out of a real home in a real neighborhood, not a wing of a large building. Because we keep our setting small and intimate, staff genuinely know every resident: their preferences, their routines, their stories.

Families tell us that what sets Mi Casa apart is how much it actually feels like home.

Is Mi Casa licensed and regulated?

Yes. Mi Casa Care Homes is fully licensed and regulated by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), the state body that oversees Home Plus facilities in Kansas. KDADS conducts regular inspections and sets the standards for care quality and safety. You can learn more at kdads.ks.gov.

Can residents personalize their space?

Absolutely. We encourage residents to bring meaningful items from home: photos, familiar furniture, personal keepsakes. A familiar environment can make a real difference in how settled and comfortable someone feels, and we want each resident to feel like their room truly belongs to them.

Care & Support
What services do you provide?

We provide personal care, including help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting around. We also provide supervised nursing support: medication management, health monitoring, and coordination with doctors and other healthcare providers. Our team is present around the clock to make sure every resident has what they need.

What types of meals do you provide?

Residents enjoy home-cooked meals prepared fresh in our kitchen. We work to accommodate dietary preferences and nutritional needs, and mealtimes are shared together rather than delivered to a room. Sharing a meal is one of the simple things that makes daily life feel normal and connected.

What activities do you do with residents?

We believe a full life doesn't stop when care begins. We engage residents in daily activities that bring joy, connection, and purpose: conversation, music, games, seasonal crafts, and time outdoors when weather allows. We pay attention to what each resident enjoys and try to build their days around what matters to them personally.

How do you support residents who need help with activities of daily living alongside those experiencing memory loss?

We're experienced in caring for residents with a range of needs. Our team is trained to support both those who need physical assistance with daily tasks and those experiencing memory-related challenges. We approach each resident as an individual and adapt our care to meet them where they are.

Our small, intimate setting tends to be calming and familiar, which can be especially meaningful for residents with memory loss.

What is your caregiver-to-resident ratio?

Because we keep our setting small and intimate, our staff-to-resident ratio is significantly better than what you'd find in a traditional nursing home or large assisted living facility. We're happy to talk through specific staffing details when you come in for a visit.

What experience does your staff have?

Our team includes certified nursing assistants (CNAs), certified medication aides (CMAs), and licensed nursing professionals, each with experience in residential care settings. We look for people who are not just qualified, but genuinely caring and patient. Many of our caregivers have worked in elder care for years and chose this kind of small home environment because they believe in a more personal approach.

Health & Safety
How do you protect against viruses, bacteria, and Covid-19?

We take infection control seriously. Our home is cleaned and sanitized regularly, and our team follows established protocols to protect residents from illness, including seasonal viruses, bacteria, and Covid-19. We stay current with guidance from state health authorities and communicate openly with families whenever there are health concerns in the home.

How do you protect resident privacy?

We take resident privacy seriously and follow all applicable state and federal privacy standards. Information about residents, including their health, their families, and their personal lives, is kept confidential and shared only with those directly involved in their care. We treat every resident's story as their own.

What happens if a resident has to go to the hospital or has a fall?

If a resident experiences a fall or needs emergency medical care, we respond immediately, calling 911 when necessary and contacting the family as soon as possible. We maintain detailed records of each resident's health status and care preferences, which helps make sure emergency responders and hospital staff have what they need.

After a hospitalization, we work closely with the family and any medical providers to support a smooth transition back home.

Do you allow doctor visits at the home?

Yes. We welcome healthcare providers to visit residents at our home. Having a doctor or nurse practitioner come to the resident is often easier and less disruptive than transporting them, and we're glad to facilitate and coordinate those visits.

What happens during a tornado or severe weather emergency?

The safety of our residents is our top priority. We have a documented severe weather and tornado preparedness plan in place. During a warning, our team moves residents to designated safe areas of the home and follows established emergency protocols until the all-clear is given. We stay informed of local weather alerts and are prepared to act quickly.

Moving In & Visiting
How soon can my loved one move in?

Move-in timelines depend on availability and your loved one's individual care needs. We encourage you to reach out and schedule a visit so we can learn more about your family's situation and give you an honest timeline. We'll never rush that process. Getting the fit right matters more than getting it done quickly.

Do you help with the moving process?

We're happy to help make the transition as smooth as possible. Our team can walk families through what to bring, how to set up your loved one's space, and how to help them prepare for the change. Moving a loved one into a care home is a meaningful moment, and we treat it that way.

What is your visitation policy?

Families are always welcome. We believe that staying connected to loved ones is essential to wellbeing, and we encourage regular visits. If you have specific questions about visiting hours or current guidelines, please reach out and we'll be happy to walk you through our current policy.

How do I schedule a tour?

Just fill out the short form on our Visit Us page and a member of our team will follow up within one business day to confirm a time that works for you. There's no pressure and no obligation. Come see the home, meet the staff, and ask whatever is on your mind.

Pricing & Payment
What are your prices and rates?

Our rates vary depending on the level of care needed and your loved one's individual situation. We work with Medicaid (HCBS), most long-term care insurance plans, and private pay. For current availability and pricing, please reach out to us directly. We're happy to walk you through what's included and answer any questions about cost.

What payment options do you accept?

We accept Medicaid through Kansas Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver programs, most long-term care insurance plans, and private pay. We're happy to work with families to understand their situation and find the right path forward. Visit our Payment Options section for more detail, or reach out and we'll walk you through it.

Understanding Home Plus
What is a Home Plus facility?

A Home Plus facility is a specific type of residential care setting defined and licensed by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS). It's distinct from a nursing home or traditional assisted living. Home Plus facilities are typically single-family homes that serve adults who need personal care and may need supervised nursing support. The small, intimate setting is the defining feature.

Mi Casa is a licensed Home Plus facility in Wichita, Kansas. Learn more on our What is Home Plus? page.

What is the difference between Mi Casa and a nursing home or assisted living?

The biggest difference is size and setting. Nursing homes and assisted living communities are typically large buildings serving dozens or even hundreds of residents. Mi Casa is a real house in a real neighborhood. That smaller scale means more personal relationships, more consistency in care, and a daily experience that actually feels like home.
